Police raids on cult lead to weaponry charges

Kevin Andrew Moore is accused of possessing more than 22,000 rounds of ammunition
A man arrested after raids on Agape Ministries properties has gone on trial accused of possessing more than 22,000 rounds of ammunition.

Kevin Andrew Moore of Mount Compass, south of Adelaide, was arrested after police raided several properties around and near Adelaide last year.

They were believed to be linked to a religious cult Agape Ministries.

Former members of the group have filed legal claims saying they were brainwashed into donating large sums of money to move the congregation to a Pacific Island where they were told they would be safe from damnation.

Prosecutors have told the Magistrates Court at Victor Harbor police allegedly found a total of more than 22,000 rounds of ammunition stored in a large shed at Moore's property.

The court heard Moore would fight all the charges.
