Jogger attacked on iconic Sydney walk

A woman has been attacked from behind by a man while she was jogging along the iconic Bronte to Bondi walk in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

The 29-year-old woman was running north at Tamarama when a man approached her from behind and put his hand over her mouth.

He then grabbed her around the chest, pulling her backwards.

She screamed and broke free. Her attacker, who was muscular and had short, spiky hair, was last seen walking into nearby parkland shortly after 8pm on Thursday.

The woman, who was uninjured, went to a nearby business and reported the incident.

"With night falling earlier than it did in summer, people must take steps to ensure their personal safety," said Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Ana Loughman.

"Take well lit routes, and avoid walking or jogging alone where possible."
