Guiseppe Di Cianni  Italian murder accused may have had help - police

Police believe a 65-year-old man charged with murdering two brothers in Sydney two years ago may have been helped by someone else.

Guiseppe Di Cianni was extradited from Italy to Sydney yesterday, charged with murdering former business associates Albert and Mario Frisoli at an inner-Sydney home in May 2009.

It is alleged the brothers were killed when business relations soured, and Di Cianni left the country just days after the murders. The parties had been locked in a dispute in the state's Supreme Court.

Detective superintendent Peter Cotter says investigations are still ongoing, and said Di Cianni has been in poor health.

"We still have a belief that there might have been somebody assisting this man post the event, and we're obviously trying to build up sufficient evidence," he said.

"Certainly in the determination of all the authorities and the New South Wales Police, he was right to travel back to Australia."

Di Cianni has been refused bail to face court again on Tuesday. He has asked for an interpreter for his next court appearance.
