John McDonald 70yo guilty of cold-case murder

A Supreme Court jury has found a 70-year-old Melbourne man guilty of the murder of his wife 25 years ago.

Marlene McDonald disappeared from her Reservoir home in December, 1986, and her body has never been found.

John McDonald was charged in 2008 with her murder after a police cold case investigation.
The court heard McDonald stalked his estranged wife obsessively and ordered her kidnapping before killing her.

McDonald has been on bail but was remanded in custody after the verdict.

He will be sentenced at a later date.
